Newman Marchive Architects & Building Environmental Consultants Announces 50th Year Anniversary
A Shreveport Architectural Firm is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and setting its sights on the future. Newman Marchive Incorporated (NMI) was founded in 1973 by Mike Newman working out of his home in the Broadmoor subdivision and now has four partners with a total staff of ten.
Newman Marchive values and is proud of the many relationships that the firm has formed over the last five decades. Lauren Marchive, vice president and partner in the firm, points out that most of our clients do multiple projects over many years with us and this speaks to our delivering consistently high value results to them.
NMI provides design services for a wide range of building types from religious facilities, schools and commercial facilities to governmental offices and buildings. Franco Zaragoza, architectural designer and partner in the firm, points out that NMI has developed a specialty in multifamily community design including everything from low income and housing authority communities to workforce and Class A projects. The firm has designed multifamily projects from Texas through Florida ranging from small communities to more than 300 unit complexes.
Shreveport/Bossier examples of the firm’s work include the Uneeda Biscuit Artist Lofts, Kingston and Legacy Elementary Schools, Renovations of Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music, Shreveport Municipal Court Building, Broadmoor United Methodist Church Renovations, State Office Building Abatement and Selective Demolition, and many others.
Lauren Marchive also points out that NMI has worked with all levels of governmental clients in north Louisiana including cities, parishes, school boards, and housing authorities, as well as the State of Louisiana.
With the recognition of the danger of asbestos containing building material in the 1980s, NMI recognized the need of its commercial, educational, and governmental clients for a design consultant with expertise in the building environmental consulting discipline. Today Brady Henderson, NMI’s environmental manager and a partner in the firm, says that we now handle not only asbestos issues, but also mold, lead paint, radon and all other building contaminants.
Each of the partners is very thankful to each of our clients for the support that they have given us over the years.
Mike is very proud of NMI and what the firm has accomplished. The young leadership is strong and everyone is continuing to strive to make tomorrow better than today for our clients and community by providing quality architecture and building environmental consulting services.
